Interactive Illustration Website
An online meeting place for powerful information transfers
Digital times call for different presentation forms. That is why we developed a platform in which we can build interactive illustration websites. This creates a meeting place, where you instinctively discover information about the content of the illustration. And in which you can present the illustration as well.
We often use the explanation of the 5-50-500 rule:
In five seconds someone must be able to recognize what the illustration is about.
In 50 seconden the outline must be explainable.
Finally, in 500seconds someone can explain all the details within the visual parts in a drawing.
"the 5-50-500 rule should be used for every strategy illustration!" - Visuele Verbinders
We use this for interactive websites as well, by first showing the overview, explaining the overall story, before diving into the chapters and sub chapters.
Step 1: Preparation
We discuss the entire development process with the client and establish where we come in: has the information already been captured, or is support still needed with the narrative or content? We can start from a rough idea or a need for a new or revised strategy. Together we discuss planning, roles and the desired end result: who is the target audience, how will the material be used, what is the intended effect?
Step 2: Execution
If content still needs to be aligned, we use creative working methods and brown paper sessions to surface information and bring focus. We then structure the information and help the client make choices about the narrative. Once that is established, an illustrator creates initial visuals and compositions which are immediately presented to the client for feedback. In a final session we present the story using the visual roadmap, refine the concept based on feedback and finish it neatly with colour.
Step 3: Delivery
Visual roadmaps are delivered digitally. After approval we send an A0 foamboard of the visual roadmap to the client as a thank you.
