Intro
X approached us with the questions to develop an animation in a short period of time. An animation for explaining the new strategy to student employees as well as internal office employees. Whenever a question like that arises, we try to find the need behind the question. How are you going to use the visual product? What is its purpose? What is the desired effect and result? Together we decided to develop an interactive website. By making an illustration interactive, the possibility is created to get the illustration presented by the platform, as well as the ability to present the illustration via the platform.
X TU Delft
X TU Delft is a place on campus where you can develop in areas that are not always part of the academic curriculum, but invaluable none the less. X focuses on the needs of young people and has an extensive offer in the fields of sports, games, arts, crafts, reflection & lifestyle. The offer ranges from courses, ticket hours, events and projects to free use of a student kitchen and living room and initiating activities and / or programming yourself.
From starting with the intake canvas to a concept illustration
We started with the intake canvas to zoom in on the customer need(s). From there we cadre the assignment and create a review framework for later on in the process. The customer need was to visually be supported in the communication of the different aspects of the new strategy. We sought for a composition that provided an overview in a clarifying manner. During the process we fount the metaphor of a "shamrock", a sort of roundabout, that fits perfectly with the different aspects a student can discover. As well as the way a student can move in different directions and always come back to the vibrant hub of X TU Delft.
Branding
We chose for a style of little color that matches the branding of X. Using the yellow greenish tennisball color, with the addition of some more brow and grey colors, the overview is still pleasant to look at and recognizable as X.

Detailling
Important for the last session - before the final detailing can be made - is the use of the right and recognizable examples. In the first step we search for the right composition that emphasizes the synergy between the different elements. In this last step we truly put the icing on the cake. For X TU Delft this meant that we showed the right activities, human interactions, different perspectives, gender preferences, etc. By critically reviewing all parts of the illustration, we make sure that this illustration is tested and gets adopted by the entire organization.
